Fans will load their contactless tickets into their Apple Wallet and also be able to use Apple Pay to buy food and beverages. The ‘electronic delivery’ system will be available for ticket purchases from 12 December for the England/Italy match on in March 2018.

SG is the first of the major banks in France to support the wallet.  It was reported earlier in the year that some Crédit Mutuel local banks were going to make it available to customers but Apple has been struggling for some time to sign up a major player.

The move will enable Danish cardholders with Android Phones to tap and pay at merchants equipped with J/Speedy contactless terminals.

 

Reuters is reporting that a group of Norwegian banks are to combine the Vipps, BankAxept and BankID Norge units. http://tinyurl.com/y7kt3462

The move is aimed at enabling the banks to fend off competition from global fintechs.

 

PayPal is integrating with Acorns, a micro savings fintech, in the US. http://tinyurl.com/y8jov4tk

Users link their PayPal account to Acorns and can then set-up a recurring or one-time investment funded from their PayPal account.

Users connect their Yoyo account to their Starling account from the Yoyo app and allow Yoyo to view their Starling account transactions. This enables the collection of loyalty points whenever the Starling card, ApplePay or Fitbit Pay is used at a merchant partner.

The start-up claims to be the world’s first digital money platform for consumers, businesses and merchants, connecting the whole payments value chain and focusing on the integration of services, open architecture, and blockchain incorporation in order to provide a single interface for its customers. CASH

The research looked at cash use in 42 economies across the globe, which together account for 75% of world GDP. Only Norway and Sweden have seen a drop in currency in circulation.

This expands the OBIE’s scope away from the deliverables for CMA9 originally set that did not fully recognise the implications of PSD2.

 

ABN AMRO has joined an increasing number of banks with Developer Portals. http://tinyurl.com/ycowrgxo

The bank says its Developer Portal provides everything that external developers need to use the bank’s APIs effectively and productively starting with APIs for commercial clients and basic functionalities.

 

ACQUIRING/PROCESSING

First Data has announced a strategic agreement with AccorHotels to support its global and cross channel payments. http://tinyurl.com/ycc8r8jh

First Data will support payments for in-store, online, and mobile transactions from a new Nexo central acceptance platform. The deal is part of First Data’s push to expand in its EMEA Region.

 

BIOMETRICS/AUTHENTICATION

The Samsung Pass technology will allow BBVA customers with Samsung-compatible smartphones to log on to the bank’s Spanish mobile banking app by looking at their displays.

 

Swedish based Fingerprints is working with IDEMIA (ex OT-Morpho) to develop a dual interface biometric card. http://tinyurl.com/y8ls7eeb

The two companies had developed a miniature biometric sensor that is embedded in a payment card.

The deal sees Avaloq and Raiffeisen changing their current collaboration into a long-term client-supplier relationship.

 

AIB has invested €30m in cross-border B2B payments player TransferMate. http://tinyurl.com/y8m9u5ch

The investment values Transfermate at between €250m and €300m. A strategic partnership will focus on providing Irish businesses with international payments and receivables capabilities.

 

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung is reporting that BS Payone is being put up for sale – there was a Savings Banks Board meeting on Monday – with a number of parties said to be interested. Names being mentioned are Concardis, First Data, Ingenico and others.

B+S Card Service and PAYONE, which were both owned by DSV Group of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, only announced their merger in May.

 

DLT/BLOCKCHAIN/CRYPTO CURRENCIES

Visa is trialling its Visa B2B Connect corporate cross-border B2B payments blockchain platform in the Far East. http://tinyurl.com/y8t9r7e9

Although US Commerce bank is involved the other players are banks from South Korea, the Philippines and Singapore. Visa says it is planning a commercial launch in mid-2018. The platform seeks to ease cross-border payments by facilitating direct payments between institutions, cutting out intermediaries. The trial follows a similar move from Amex reported recently.

 

EPC/SEPA

The Agenda and minutes of the 5th meeting of the Scheme End-User Forum in October have been published. http://tinyurl.com/y9duot6o

Matters discussed included the EPC  position on the extension of the remittance information in SEPA  Credit Transfer (SCT) transactions, the extension of the SEPA  character set in the SCT  and SEPA  Direct Debit (SDD) payment messages and the adoption of a newer ISO 20022 version for these payment messages.
