Payment Gateway Conference 2018

16th May 2018, Pullman Hotel, Brussels

In its third year, this event focused on the rapidly developing European cards and alternative payment gateway market and was well attended by experts from across Europe’s diverse payments landscape. This year we paid particular attention to:

  • Implementation experience from those building direct account access solutions
  • The growing demand for instant credit at the point of sale
  • The emergence of genuine omni-channel service offerings (rather than the theory!)
  • Machine learning in fraud
  • The future of the digital merchant proposition
  • How the travel industry may respond to instant payments

    The Changing Fraud Landscape Matt ran through some great case studies on the pitfalls of earlier generations of machine learning, and provided case studies on the benefits of emergent machine learning technologies in fraud
  • Manuel Bogajo - Amadeus

    Lifting the Lid on how the Travel Industry is Digesting PSD2 Manuel ran through some useful case studies of how regulation such as the PSD2 has impacted the travel industry, with a particular focus on surcharging
  • Francesco Simoneschi - Truelayer

    Open Banking & PSD2 Francesco provided some excellent insights into delivering using the UK Open Banking API and some specific insights in consumer drop-outs for different forms of authentication
  • Brian Hanrahan - Sentenial

    Why Open Banking & Instant Bank Account Payments Matter Brian gave us some great perspectives on where they see innovation emerging within UK Open Banking and the of use cases they are working on at the moment

    Delivering Intelligent Commerce Huw offered a great vision of the future that puts the customer back in control of their interactions with banking and payments

    Time for Cards to Compete with the Instant Credit Transfer Peter provided his vision for cards and how it can effectively compete with the emergence of real time credit transfers

    Indirect Acquiring: The Role of Partnerships in a World Full of Service Payments Nicole provided some great insights about how to partner with gateways to meet the evolving needs of digital merchants and their consumers

    Connecting Gateways to Provide an Omni-Channel Experience Peter gave some great case studies on their work to deliver an omni-channel experience to consumers and merchants by integrating multiple gateway entities
  • Christian Deger - Payworks

    Delivering a Pan EU Integrated Payment Solution Christian ran through how they have developed a face to face gateway solution that meet the needs of modern digital merchants
  • Luke Purser - PSE

    Next Steps for European Payments Regulation Luke provided some great perspectives on how the PSD2 and interchange regulation, along side changes in industry standards, are driving change in the European gateway and POI landscape
